Title: The James Web Telescope: Highlights and Life Beyond Earth
Abstract:

The James Webb Space Telescope was launched on Christmas day 2021. It is the largest and most powerful space telescope in history. I will describe how some of its observations have given us new insights on the first galaxies formed after the Big Bang, and the important role played by supermassive Black Holes. Also, it is beginning to probe the atmospheres of planets far beyond our solar system, in the hope of finding evidence of life beyond the Earth.
