Cool Stars 23, 15 – 19 June 2026, TOC Ariake, Tokyo Bay Area, Japan

The 23rd Cambridge Workshop on Cool Stars, Stellar Systems and the Sun (Cool Stars 23) focused on advancing our understanding of cool stars, stellar systems, the Sun, and their connections to planetary and Galactic environments through the latest observational and theoretical developments. Held from 15–19 June 2026 in Tokyo, Japan, the conference brought together the international community to discuss a broad range of topics, including the interiors and atmospheres of cool objects, magnetic activity, stellar evolution, multiplicity, protoplanetary disks, exoplanetary systems, and Galactic evolution. Of particular relevance to substellar astrophysics, the meeting featured sessions on the atmospheres and physical properties of substellar objects, highlighting advances in atmospheric modeling, the binary fraction, spectroscopy, variability, cloud physics, and the role of substellar objects as a bridge between stars and giant exoplanets.
Two SUBTELLAR predoctoral researchers attended the workshop both with contributions:
Sara Muñoz Torres presented an contributed talk "A Rare Wide L/T Binary in the Field Discovery: The First Resolved Substellar System from Euclid" , and Nafise Sedighi presented a poster "Studying Ultracool Dwarfs with Updated ATMO Atmospheric Models" .
